REVIEW: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

“It was always difficult being Harry Potter, and it isn’t much easier now that he’s an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and a father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As the past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.”

I feel like this book doesn’t even need a review anymore but here, have another one. Also, you guys probably already know this but all was not well, you guys. All. was NOT. well.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a.k.a. the time-travelling AU no one asked for. Loljk. I was pretty psyched when I saw a post announcing its release. I mean, who wouldn’t be? After all, it’s been (12? lol.) almost five years without new, canon, material. And so I reserved a copy for myself. I got it as soon as it was released and finished reading it in TWO days. I just, I couldn’t put it down. I had to literally force myself to stop reading for the night and go to sleep. It was awesome. But still somehow lacking? It wasn’t written by JK Rowling so maybe that’s why? It has her stamp of approval though. Also, it’s a script so there isn’t…space for the narrative that we’re used to from the first seven books. The upside to this is that it’s all action. There was never a dull moment. I hope the play catches on and they come here to the Philippines. Or I somehow get the chance to go to London and watch it there instead. ;)
